SET UP DETAILS FOR EVENTS AT ST MARYS CHURCH SHREWSBURY
ST MARYS CHURCH
St Marys Church, is a spectacular and beautiful venue, steeped in history and as such an extremely popular tourist destination.
We have hosted many events here, and are always delighted to be able to invite both traders and guests to share in its magnificent medieval splendour.
We can comfortably accommodate over 50 stalls at this venue and we do so throughout the year, however during November and December the very popular and over 50 year running Charity Christmas Card Shop runs alongside our event in The Trinity Chapel, so we share the space. This of course is benefical to both parties.

SET UP FOR TRADERS
Our events will be open to the public
10:00 - 4:00
Set up will be from 6:45am on Saturday.
A floor plan will be available on the day, all pitches will be clearly named and someone will be available to show you to your space.
I will endeavour to send the floor plan to everyone prior to the day of the event.
Parking - Unloading and collection.
There is limited on street parking (charges will apply from 8:15am if you purchased a ticket) at this venue. Traders will need to unload and use one of the many town centre car parks for the duration of the event after unloading.
Access will be via the South Porch if you find a space on the roadside alongside the south side of the church.
We now also have access to the front forecourt, so the main entrance will also be open.
The forecourt can accommodate approximately 6 vehicles at any one time for offloading and collection after the event. This is very much on a first come first serve basis. Once unloaded and this applies to wherever you choose to unload, Traders will need to use one of the many town centre carparks.
The carpark which most Traders use is this one www.ncp.co.uk/find-a-car-park/car-parks/shrewsbury-wyle-cop/
They often offer an early bird rate too.
Please be sure to plan ahead, and locate a carpark suitable for your needs ahead of the day of the event.
Please do not hesitate to contact us in advance if you need any assistance, as on the day of the event, as we are such a small team, it isn't always possible for us to leave the venue to give you detailed directions.
Pitch Allocation
Pitch spaces will be allocated prior to the event and a plan will be on display on the day. Traders who have ordered and paid for a table will have their table assembled and in placed in situ. If you are bringing your own table, please be mindful of other Traders next to you who may arrive later than you and make sure you leave adequate space for their pitch please. PLEASE ALSO NOTE AS PER OUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS, A PITCH TO ACCOMMODATE A SIX FOOT TABLE MEANS EXACTLY THAT! PLEASE DO NOT ASSUME THAT YOU CAN BRING EXTRA TABLES, RAILS, PULL UP BANNERS ETC AS WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO ACCOMMODATETHIS ON THE DAY.
Pitches run the length of each side of the outer nave, four opposite, on both sides.
Pitches at both ends of the nave and centrally along the nave, the others will be in the cross chancel area.
Electrical points are only available in certain areas of the church, and Traders that have requested access to power will be placed next to them.
The floor plan takes a lot of consideration in advance of the event, as I endeavour to accommodate all Trader requests (made upon booking) and carefully place everyone in a space that is most suitable for their products. I always visually and practically consider how customers will traverse the event, and know that they will want to see certain stands in certain places. For example if a Trader is selling food then I will not place another food seller next to them, this of course applies to all types of products too as well as charities that are attending.
I would therefore politely ask that everyone remains in the space that they have been allocated.
Due to the quirky layout of this particular venue, each pitch can only accommodate a 6ft event table. If you require a larger space, then you will need to book more than one pitch. Please do not assume that you can bring extras, such as clothes rails, side tables etc. If everyone did this we would be in breach of fire regulations.
I would like to also remind everyone of the main terms and conditions that are most applicable, are as follows:
1.PLEASE DO NOT BREAK DOWN BEFORE CLOSE OF BUSINESS. This very rarely happens, but from many, many years of experience it is extremely disruptive to the entire event and has a detrimental effect on your fellow Traders.
2.PLEASE TAKE ALL RUBBISH HOME. BIN BAGS WILL BE PROVIDED.
3. PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO PROMOTE YOUR ATTENDANCE AT THE EVENT TO YOUR FOLLOWERS & TO NEW POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS - EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS.
I would also like to advise everyone, that St Mary's Church is cold (even in Summer). The heating will be on, but given that the venue is a medieval church, it is an incredibly cavernous space to heat, so if you feel the cold, please do wrap up warm.
All Traders who have attended my events before, and of course there are many of them coming to Shrewsbury, will know that I always heavily advertise and being a Trader myself I am very aware of the upmost importance of this.
Hopefully they will also tell you that I am extremely approachable and accommodating and I will always be available to help in anyway I can throughout the day of the fair.
If you need assistance at any point during the event, and are unable leave your pitch for any reason, please do not hesitate to call us.

DIRECTIONS AND CAR PARKING
An ancient church with world famous stained glassThe spire of St Mary's is one of the tallest in England and for over 500 years it has dominated the skyline of Shrewsbury's old town. In 1739, showman Robert Cadman attempted to slide from it, head first, using a rope and a grooved breastplate. His engraved obituary stands outside the west door.
The church is now the only complete medieval church in Shrewsbury. It dates from Saxon times and has beautiful additions from the twelfth-century onwards. Inside, the atmosphere is peaceful with the soaring stone arches giving way to the church's great treasure - its stained glass. There are panels in glorious colour including the world-famous fourteenth-century 'Jesse window'; filled with figures of Old Testament kings and prophets, and scenes from the life of St Bernard - a Medieval cartoon strip that shows him ridding flies from an abbey, riding a mule and curing the sick. No other church in the country has a collection to equal it.
Most of the glass was brought from elsewhere, much of it from Europe, by two remarkable clergymen, and installed in St Mary's during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Warmth and richness is also provided by superb Victorian coloured tiles on the floor. Lifting your eyes upwards, you will see the wonderful fifteenth-century carved oak ceiling of the nave, with a profusion of animals, birds and angels.
Other details delight you wherever you look: an ancient font, Medieval stone carving on the arcades, interesting monuments. The beauty and variety of this church and its contents, all on a grand scale, blend into an uplifting and memorable whole.
