The courses will be crammed full of exciting sessions, fulfilling projects and an opportunity for you explore new techniques, hone and develop existing skills and have a jolly good time doing it too!
We very much hope that this will whet your artistic appetite. Previous experience is most definitely not required.
All sessions are lead by a very experienced and extremely talented professional tutor.
Heather allows everyone to work at their own pace and is always on hand to give everyone the help they need.

THE THEME FOR THIS COURSE WILL BE
'PERFORMANCE'
THIS WILL ALLOW US TO EXPLORE A WIDE RANGE OF GENRE AND MEDIUM.
(MUSIC, THEATRE, CIRCUS,DANCE ETC)
WE COULD INCLUDE CUBISIM, WITH A COLLAGE OF ABTRACT INSTRUMENTS, A CHALK OR PASTEL PIECE OF DEGAS DANCERS, A WATERCOLOUR LANDSCAPE OF A CIRCUS BIGTOP, AN ACRYLIC POSTER STYLE PAINTING OF VICTORIAN STRONGMEN, POP ART SELF PORTRAIT, A DELICATE SKETCH OF A THEATRICAL SCENE? THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS.
THERE WILL BE MOST DEFINETLY SOMETHING FOR ALL TO ENJOY EACH WEEK.
AUTUMN TERM
PERFORMANCE
COURSE OVERVIEW
WEEK 1: (POP ART PORTRAITS)
In the first lesson, we will paint a famous person using acrylics, taking inspiration from the colourful, bold images seen in pop art.
Materials: Acrylic paint
WEEK 2: (STILL LIFE OF MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS)
Looking at shapes, patterns, and colours observed in a full group of musical instruments will create a cubist collage.
Materials: Oil and soft pastels range of paper and card.
WEEK 3: (PROPORTIONS OF THE HUMAN FIGURE)
Using white charcoal to draw wooden mannequins onto black paper for a dramatic study
Materials: White chalk white charcoal black paper
WEEK 4: (A GROUP OF MUSICIANS)
Drawing on the previous study of musical instruments and focusing on pattern shape and colour we will create a study of a group of musicians.
Materials Pencil and colour pencils
WEEK 5 & 6: (CLOSE UP COMPOSITION)
This week will be creating a bold watercolour image using close up sections of musical instruments to give a detailed and semi abstract image

WEEK 7: (DEGAS’ DANCERS)
This week we are inspired by the flowing dramatic studies of ballet dancers by Dagas and introducing soft pastels to our work to enhance the effect of light colour and movement.
Materials: Soft pastels
WEEK 8 & 9: (VENETIAN MASKS)
Over the two weeks, we aim to explore the tradition and design of Venetian masks and develop 3D skills to create a unique mask of our own.
Materials: Various
WEEK 10: (VICTORIAN CIRCUS POSTERS
Using watercolour as a medium this week allows us to study and appreciate the role of bold advertising techniques used in Victorian posted design circus big top. Peacocks and strong men could all be included.
Materials: Watercolour
WEEK 11: (THEATRICAL SCENERY)
Looking at drawings of stage sets, and theatre auditoriums will use pen and ink to create a detailed drawing with texture and perspective closely observed.
Materials: Pen and ink/pencil
WEEK 12: (COMPLETING UNFINISHED WORK)
This session gives us a chance to catch up on any missed or incomplete work. Alternatively, you could develop a preferred idea of your own based on the theme.
